According to the Bible, God wants His people to pray. Thankful for God’s faithfulness and for His listening ear, we present the stuff of our lives to Him. We are to pray for the world, pray for His people in the world, and pray that His kingdom comes and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. If BG is to live out the Gospel in this community and maintain an outward focus instead of an ingrown one, then we must pray.
David Wells, a professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, defines prayer as “rebellion against the status quo.” So, let’s rebel against the “status quo” and seek God’s powerful grace to be, as Isaiah writes, “oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.” May we have a very real sense of God’s presence and leading as we pray and serve Him together.
